Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences supports the College of Health and Sciences commitment to excellence in scholarship, teaching and service. The department engages in interdisciplinary teaching and research that provides relevant real world expertise required by students to become skilled scientists, to excel intellectually and professionally in a global environment, and to pursue careers in science and management or continue their education in graduate school.

The department mission is to establish education (BS, MS, PhD) programs that will prepare students with scientific competency and hands-on laboratory experience to pursue careers in the pharmaceutics, clinical trial research organizations and biotechnology industry.

Primary Purpose of Position

The College of Health and Sciences at North Carolina Central University is looking for a qualified candidate for tenure-track Assistant Professor of Clinical Trial Research in the Department of Pharmaceutical Science. The candidate is expected to have 75 percent teaching and 25 percent research load. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new courses and teaching existing courses in Clinical Trials/Research Sciences. The candidate is expected to conduct clinical trial research, write manuscripts, submit grant applications, collaborating with industry partners, and train student in research, and serve on Department, College, and University committees.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate should have a thorough knowledge of regulatory sciences, good clinical practice (GCP), clinical trials management, including the ability to design, monitor, and analyze clinical trials research data. Working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations in clinical trial management is desired. The candidate should possess highly effective verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills

Minimum Education/Experience

The position requires a doctorate degree in a scientific field relevant to clinical trials research (e.g., Ph.D., Dr.PH, PhrmD, or equivalent). A minimum of one year of clinical trial research work experience is also strongly preferred. Individuals in scientific fields unrelated to clinical trials who have documented work experience in clinical trials research for several years will also be considered.
