Siemens Energy Repair Center - Shop Supervisor in East Rancho Dominguez, California

This position requires a customer focused demeanor, looking to meet or beat our client's required ship date and quality expectations. Candidate must be willing to take a "hands-on" approach to monitoring job progress, fix setbacks, and be comfortable dealing directly with employee-related interactions. Candidate must maintain a continual focus on safety and quality during all mechanical shop activities. This position's greatest challenge is to develop an environment of continuous improvement, customer satisfaction and operational excellence for all members of the mechanical shop team. Encourage employee agreement and positive morale. Tight monitoring and control of mechanical shop expenses and quality. Candidate must possess strong knowledge and familiarity of general machine shop operations and general machine repairs. Must be able to comfortably interact with other shop supervisors, leads and client representatives regarding equipment repairs and resource scheduling.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Lead the mechanical and machine shop teams to ensure safe, efficient and quality repairs within the customer's required ship date.

  • Assure proper workforce distribution based on workload.

  • Assure proper Repair Center staffing and coverage for OT and some weekends during expedited repairs.

  • Monitor actual hours to shop orders to keep within quoted estimates.

  • Monitor employee attendance per the service center policy.

  • Maintain and continuously improve shop cleanliness and organization.

  • Liaison for shop related issues with Customer Service and other product bays.

  • Interact directly with client representatives to answer questions on repair procedures & scheduling.

  • Ability to devise practical and economical solutions for shop challenges regarding safety, quality, and resource constraints.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to Repair Center shop teams of different skills and levels of experience.

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 10+ years of Supervisory experience in Mechanical or Machine Shop manufacturing or repairs

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or - bachelor’s or associate degree in a technical, engineering, or relevant field

  • Experience with Rotating Equipment (highly advantageous > refinery compressors and turbomachinery)

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
