Illinois American Water is seeking a full-time Maintenance
Technician to join our team in East. St. Louis. In this role, you
will be responsibe for the preventative maintenance of treatment plant
equipment including hydraulics, chemical feed systems, analyzers, pumps,
motors, valves and more. Our ideal candidate will have a strong
mechanical aptitude and be eager to learn the water industry!
Primary Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the duties necessary to
maintain and ensure reliable operation of water and/or wastewater
treatment facilities. Maintenance tasks will be of a high technical
nature including work on pumps, chemical feed systems and controls.
Employee will be given tasks that require electrical, mechanical and
production facilities knowledge, in addition to operations of heavy
equipment including a forklift and possibly a backhoe and other duties
as assigned by management.
Knowledge/Skills
- Strong work ethic, time management and organizational and team
membership skills.
- Ability to communicate well and to work with minimal supervision.
- Good mechanical skills.
- Ability to start up, shut down, and make operating adjustments to
all equipment for proper continued operation.
- Ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs.
- Basic compu er skills are required.
Experience/Education
- High school degree or equivalent required.
- Mechanical and/or electrical experience or training is desired.
- 0-2 years of experience working in water industry.
Certification
- Class C Water Operator License required after 2 years in position.
- Class A Water Operator License required after 4 years in position.
- Class C driver\'s license and D.O.T. medical card required within 30
days of being awarded position.
Shifts/Hours
- Full-time
- Tuesday - Saturday 2PM - 10:30PM.
