Special Heavy Motor Equipment Operator - Sewer Department The Sewer
SHMEO operates Class A heavy equipment and performs manual labor related
to the construction, maintenance, and repair of public works
infrastructure; inspects the equipment for proper operating condition;
carries out preventive maintenance procedures; and does related work as
required. May work extended periods of time during emergencies. Job
Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours Per Week Salary: \$24.33 - \$26.20 Per Hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Operates Class A trucks and Class 2 and 4 hydraulic
equipment normally assigned to a public works equipment operator. The
type of equipment varies by the assigned division. May operate light
trucks Performs excavations and restores job sites. Inspects equipment
before operation to ensure that all controls and safety devices function
properly. Lubricates and otherwise services the equipment as part of a
programmed preventive maintenance schedule. Reports malfunctions to the
Foreman or Supervisor. May assist in making repairs. Repairs and
maintains water system, including all pipes, fittings, valves, meters,
and hydrants. Installs water mains and associated valves, fittings,
hydrants, and meters. Performs related manual labor work. EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE High School diploma or equivalent; three to five years of
related work experience or technical training to perform assigned duties
at the journeyman level; or any equivalent combination of education and
experience. Special Requirements Massachusetts Class A Commercial
Driver\'s License with Tanker Massachusetts Class 2A, 4G Hoisting
Engineer\'s License OSHA 10 Certification. AN EQUAL
