Universal Health Services Nurse Practitioner Specialty in EDINBURG, Texas

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Interventional Radiology Nurse Practitioner (IRNP) works in collaboration with the Interventional Radiologists to provide Comprehensive Care for patients. The IRNP is responsible for the following tasks: pre-assesment, intervention, and evaluation; completing history and physical exams, ordering diagnostic studies, interpreting test results, performing radiological procedures under imaging guidance, providing oral and written communication with referring physicians and other clinical staff, developing and implementing patient treatment plans all under the guidelines set forth in the policies and procedures and Bylaws of South Texas Health System (STHS). As a clinical leader for the Interventional Radiology program, the IRNP is involve in process improvement projects and is an educational resource for patient, families, and staff. Potentially, IRNP will play a vital role in the community outreached programs for disseminating information for new and advance radiological technologies that are available for service.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. The job requires at least 12 months of clinical experience and expertise as a Radiology Nurse.

  2. The IRNP should be a role model nursing professional through conduct, communication, leadership, ethical decision making and problem solving skills. The IRNP will maintain current BLS, ACLS, and PALS training.

  3. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

The Interventional Radiology Nurse Practitioner should have the following:

  1. Must have and maintain current BLS, ACLS, and PALS. Cetifications must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA for Healthcare Provider’s Program.

  2. Must achieve Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practioner, Adult Nurse Practioner, or Clinical Nurse Specialist.

  3. A current license from the Texas Board of Nursing to practice as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority.

  4. Preferably with National accreditation certification in the area of specialty.

  5. No physical and/or mental problem preventing him or her from exercising the granted privileges

  6. An agreement with a physician(s) currently appointed to the medical staff of the hospital to supervise the IRNP’s practice in the hospital
