Alphabroder Production Manager -Decorations in Edwardsville, Kansas

Position Summary

Provides front-line leadership to the Decoration Production team in Kansas City and facilitates coaching and development. Sets & manages performance goals for supervisors/team leads that roll down to their teams. Balances the goals of quality, efficiency, financial responsibility and responsiveness to customer needs. Works with the Decoration Services team, the DC management team, Operations and other departments to resolve issues and work related challenges. Provides subject matter expertise as requested to support strategic initiatives, system and equipment upgrades and process improvements relative to Decoration Production.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of Decoration Production in Kansas City, developing and reviewing daily operational reports and dealing with issues that arise

  • Manage issues/decisions regarding decorated orders and internal and external customer escalated issues

  • Ensure quality and timeliness of producing orders are met, addressing any obstacles/gaps.

  • Motivate and encourage the team to high performance levels while maintaining a positive work environment.

  • Create and implement individual and department performance standards consistent with the business needs and service delivery requirements

  • Review and update operating process & procedures as needed to current business practices, focusing on continuous improvement and maximizing productivity

  • Oversee purchasing of decoration production supplies as needed

  • Oversee the development and management of staff schedules to optimize productivity and coverage of shifts and machines.

  • Hire and staff accordingly within headcount allocation; oversee and facilitate training, coaching and transition of new hires to fully productive staff members

  • Develop and maintain productive day to day relationships with external departments, both Commercial and Operations

  • Works collaboratively with the Facilities Manager to maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; recommends replacement or adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.

  • Provide and promote a safe work environment.

  • Facilitates the work team problem solving process to ensure that the team attains, retains, and effectively applies appropriate problem solving techniques

  • Ensure compliance of all company policies, including but not limited to, all Federal, State and local OSHA regulations

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, correspondences, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to listen effectively, convey complex ideas to others

  • Ability to make effective presentations to senior management, employee groups, and customers

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

  • Ability to plan, develop and manage budgets. Ability to understand complex statistical operations and financial statements.

  • Lean Manufacturing Certification Preferred

    Previous experience necessary:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Management preferred with a minimum of five to ten years related experience with progressive production management responsibilities in a manufacturing environment

  • 5-10 years’ experience and strong technical skills in an Embroidery Decoration Facility

  • A demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
