For more information, visit amwater.com and join American Water on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. _ Primary Role_ The Station Operator may be assigned to perform any responsibility that lies within the capability of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training. * There are 2 positions available.* This position is a union position with New Jersey American Water and the starting pay rate is $36.34 per hour. This position may be eligible for annual incentive pay and contracted increases as determined by the collective bargaining agreement, and you will have the opportunity for continued salary growth. American Water employees also receive learning opportunities and work experiences to grow professionally. _ Key Accountabilities_ * Collects process control samples, as directed. Performs water treatment tests and evaluates water samples, as directed, to ensure process water quality is within established parameters and, if necessary, adjusts treatment process to ensure the integrity of the water supply. * Operates water treatment facilities and related appurtenances including, but not limited to, chemical feeders, pumps, purification units, and standby generation and residual processing equipment to ensure the safe, reliable production and delivery of the highest quality water. * Assists with repairs to and maintenance of equipment and facilities. * Reviews, monitors, and adjusts hydraulic and chemical processes to achieve and maintain established water quality standards and system requirements. Operates and adjusts computer control systems to ensure the integrity of remote water treatment facilities, transmission and distribution systems and removes hydraulic and chemical systems. * Prioritizes and coordinates tasks and/or activities required for the efficient and reliable operation of water treatment facilities and related appurtenances. Receives and distributes chemicals and materials in accord with established company, State, and/or Federal safety standards and/or practices. Maintains the appearance of water treatment facilities and grounds in accord with company standards. Prepares and maintains accurate facility and system records and reports. * Responds to inquiries accurately and professionally and, when necessary, involves the appropriate individual(s) to resolve customer and companyrelated issues and to achieve the highest level of customer service in all areas of assigned responsibilities. * May be assigned to perform any responsibility that lies within the capability of the employee based on experience, knowledge, qualifications, and training. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Working knowledge of all aspects of water treatment operations including hydraulic, chemical, and electrical equipment and processes. * Thorough understanding of the distribution system network including, but not limited to, gradients, capacities, interconnections, mapping, service territory and facility locations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the water treatment facility and related appurtenances. * Working knowledge of company policies, procedures, and safety practices as well as state and federal rules and regulations applicable to area of responsibility including, but not limited to, OSHA. * The Station Operator must be capable of operating equipment and vehicles necessary for the completion of assignments and must possess a commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements. * The individual will also be required to pass an annual OSHA medical examination, and must be able to perform the essential functions and meet the physical requirements for Station Operator. _ Experience/Education_ * High School diploma/GED required. _ Certifications & Licenses_ * Candidate with a T-2 and W-2 license preferred or ability to obtain within Company's specified time frame. * Valid Drivers license required.
