Position Overview:

Fleet Mechanics play an important role in ensuring proper performance, safety and reliability of our heavy and

light-duty vehicles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

*This is a mobile job, that requires frequenttravel to Newark, LGA, JFK airport to provide for repairs and troubleshooting.

This may also require periodically to other locations to provide support or backup to other mechanics, training, etc.

*Perform all duties of a skilled maintenance technician following recognized procedures for such work, as required

* Ability to read and use maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other related

maintenance documents to complete work assignments

*Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic problems and make necessary repairs within an established

timeframe

* Maintain complete and accurate maintenance records and conduct scheduled and unscheduled preventative

maintenance (PM's) inspections on equipment

*Maintain complete and accurate maintenance records and conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections on equipment

*Consistently at work and on time, follow instructions, respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve

performance

*Advise General Manager/Regional Maintenance Manager of matters deserving attention regarding equipment repairs

*Must be observant of daily weather predictions and operations plans to be prepared for immediate business needs that

may include responding to location during off shift hour

*Utilize company Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) to log work orders, track parts usage, and

store records

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future
  • A valid driver's license is required for this position.
  • Must be able to pass Federal Government requirements to obtain Airport Badges (EWR, LGA and JFK)
  • Must be willing to travel to our local airport stations (LGA and JFK) using our company provided vehicle
  • 1 year of previous experience performing general mechanical repairs required; 3 years preferred. 1 year of heavy truck/equipment preferred.
  • Must possess basic hand tools and toolbox common to the trade. Sockets and wrenches up-to 1" in size and up to a 1/2" drive minimum.
  • Direct working knowledge of air brakes and experience diagnosing electrical & hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with fluid types, diesel powered engines and power-tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Proven knowledge and use of standard and specialty tools and specialized testing equipment (i.e. photo tachometer, volt meter, diagnostics tools and hardware, and scanners)
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to manipulate multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines at once
  • Maintain and treat all information as confidential
  • Possess the tact to deal with all levels of employees and client representatives

Work Environment:

* Physically strenuous, prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to noise (may be excessive at times),

safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, in and around heavy moving equipment.

  • Must be like working outside during all seasons in all types of weather conditions.

Physical Demands:

*Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, speak and hear

efficiently

*Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling

*Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds

*May be exposed to work at heights in excess of 20 feet to perform role, repairs, or inspections
