QMS - Special Processes Manager

Primary Job Location: Elmira, NY

Employment Format: Full Time/On site

Position Overview: The Special Process Manager fulfills the special process coordinator roles and oversees the internal company requirements to ensure compliance is being met. Special processes are those that cannot be fully verified as compliant once the work is complete, meaning only through destructive testing can the product be fully checked. In order to ensure the proper steps are taken when these processes are performed, specific guidelines and requirements are established. For example, personnel training, control records, environmental conditions, etc. The six special processes are as follows: welding, torque tightening, bonding & sealing, painting, crimping, and riveting.

Responsibilities:

· Assist managers and personnel of all departments in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system

· Prepare and maintain documentation such as reports, work instructions, trainings, etc.

· Refine/improve processes, procedures, work instructions, control sheets, etc. by analysis and working through the requirements step by step

· Conduct audits, create reports, and assist in the closure of findings by determining root cause and implementation of proper corrective and preventive actions

· Support the organization by ensuring that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system

· Develop training to build quality awareness

· Create, advise, and maintain corrective action documents/log and report on status

· Fulfill the special process coordinator roles for several special processes

· Assist in understanding and implementing special process requirements

· Analyze standards and procedures and ensure that requirements are being met

· Assist in creating and maintaining documentation, such as procedures, control sheets, etc.

· Conduct audits, create reports, and determine proper corrective and preventive actions through root cause analysis

· Ensure that products and processes comply with the requirements

· Prepare and maintain documentation such as reports, work instructions, trainings, etc.

· Ability to travel to supplier facilities to perform QMS (Quality Management System) and special process audits, follow up with finding reports, and drive issues to closure

· Work closely with the Supplier Quality Manager and assist with activities such as creating material quality reports (MQRs) and sharing with suppliers

Qualifications:

Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science

· 3-5 years' experience in Quality management or similar

· Strong commitment to safety in all job aspects

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Proficient in computer technology and programs, such as Microsoft Office (excel is a must)

· Strong ability to analyze and maintain objectivity

· Strong ability and proven track record in relationship building

· Strong in creating and developing documentation reports, procedures, control sheets, etc.

· Positive attitude and strong work ethic is a must.

· Ability to work in a start-up, high pressure environment

· Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills essential for day to day operations

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

· Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Recommended:

· Certified ISO 9001 auditor is desirable

· Ability to speak Spanish is desirable

· Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification is desirable

· Salary: $85,000
