Climax Molybdenum is the world's leading producer of molybdenum and has a
long, successful history of doing business in a safe, highly efficient and
socially responsible manner. We have operated in Colorado for more than 100
years and today have mining and milling operations near Leadville, Kremmling
and Empire. Our Climax mine is located between Frisco and Leadville. Our
Henderson mine and mill are an hour's drive apart - separated by the
Continental Divide and a 15-mile conveyor system (10 miles is
underground). The Henderson mine is about 50 miles west of Denver and 10
miles west of Empire, and the mill is located between Dillon and Kremmling.
Description
Entry-level employee who will be trained to assist Mine Operations teams under
individually or under moderate supervision. Job duties include operating
articulated diesel equipment, transporting & handling explosives,
transporting & placing concrete, maintaining utility infrastructure,
and/or housekeeping.
- Secondary breakage of oversized rocks and hang-ups using explosives.
- Assemble, transport, and place charges in order to reduce the size of
boulders and facilitate production activities
- Using a mobile lift truck, install and/or repair steel piping and rubber
hose to ensure properly functioning water spray in draw points
- Operate Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) unit in a production setting. Move broken
rock from draw point to ore pass, maintain roadways, and properly place
oversized boulders.
- Operate various mobile heavy equipment to perform special projects and/or
housekeeping work.
- Perform other duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- No previous experience necessary
- Must be at least 21 years of age and be a United States Citizen or Permanent
Resident in order to handle explosives.
- Must be able to pass a background check (performed after hiring) through
the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (BATF)
and obtain Employee Possessor Letter of Clearance for handling explosives.

Preferred Qualifications include:
- Prior experience in heavy industry (oil/gas, civil construction,
mining) or operating heavy diesel equipment (front-end loaders,
excavators, skid steers, off-highway haul trucks)
