Experienced Cassandra DBA to manage and maintain our mission-critical
Cassandra database clusters. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on
experience with Cassandra database administration, performance tuning,
backup/recovery, and cluster scaling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and upgrade Cassandra clusters across multiple
environments (dev/staging/prod)
- Design and implement backup/recovery strategies to ensure data integrity
and availability.
- Monitor Cassandra clusters, identify bottlenecks, and tune for optimal
performance.
- Develop and implement database security policies and access controls.
- Manage Cassandra cluster scaling (adding/removing nodes) to meet
capacity demands.
- Collaborate with engineers to review data models and ensure efficient schema
designs.
- Solid understanding of security principles and implementation in database
environments.
- Monitor database performance, ensuring optimal efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and implement database
structures for applications.
- Automate routine DBA tasks through scripting and tools.
- Provide training and support to development teams on Cassandra best
practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Cass andra issues in a timely manner.
- Stay up to date on Cassandra releases and industry best practices.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cassandra DBA, minimum 3+ years
- Strong understanding of Cassandra architecture, data modeling, and query
optimization
- Hands-on experience with Cassandra tools (nodetool, cqlsh, OpsCenter)
- Proficiency in Apache Cassandra administration (backups, repairs, upgrades)
- Experience with Cassandra replication, consistency levels, and
multi-datacenter clusters.
- Scripting abilities in languages like Python, Bash, etc.
- Knowledge of operating system internals (Linux)
- Problem-solving skills with systematic approaches to issue resolution
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task efficiently.
- -proven Experience in hosting and upgrading Cassandra versions
- -Familiarity with data replication, sharding, and clustering in
distributed database systems.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with streaming/messaging systems (Apache Kafka)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms AWS and container technologies
- Knowledge of complementary data stores (Redis)
- Experience is Mongo database
