What do you contribute?

A locomotive’s task is to convert any power to traction and speed. As a System Engineer (f/m/d) for propulsion systems, you will design the propulsion system of hybrid locomotives. Our locomotives run up to 230 km/h in passenger operation or carry loads of several thousand metric tons.

  • You will be part of the engineering team for our international locomotive projects in Europe, Asia and North America, with engineers at our locations in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Spain, the United States and India.

  • You will be responsible for the design, specification and technical clarification of the propulsion system for our electric and hybrid-electric locomotives. As part of a team, you implement customer requirements, design the components and support our suppliers. A special focus is on the integration and operation of battery and hydrogen fuel cells.

  • You will be responsible for a wide field of technical interfaces, ranging from electrical drive technology, operational management and control to mechanical integration.

  • You will be involved in all relevant phases of the project, from concept to bid preparation, technical implementation, discussions with customer, testing, delivery up to warranty.

  • You pick up on market requirements and trends to guide our suppliers in the development of our drive components.

  • You will participate in the testing and improvement of these functions in the laboratory and in vehicle tests and support the homologation process.

  • You will continuously develop yourself in this position. In doing so, various personal development directions are open to you, from a role as technical expert as well as taking over responsibility as a technical project coordinator.

What do you bring along?

  • You have a master's degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics with a focus on drive technology and/or power electronics.

  • In addition, you have already gained many years of professional experience in engineering in the field of electric drives and traction applications, preferably in the field of rail vehicles, and are proficient in the basic use of simulation tools.

  • You can understand and define complex systems and use a structured way of working, problem solving and documentation.

  • You are experienced in working with heterogeneous international teams and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

  • You are fluent in English. You are willing to learn German up to level B2.
