Emerson Product Owner - Digital Customer Experience in Escazú, Costa Rica

Job Summary

The Product Owner (PO) role is a key leadership role within Emerson IT. If you are an experienced IT Analyst, Digital Business Systems interested in growing your career, this is an exciting opportunity for you! Based in any world area Emerson location, you will be responsible for defining Stories and prioritizing the Team Backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities with coordination and communication across multiple Agile Teams in an Agile Release Train (ART) within the Automation Solutions Platform Services. This role has significant relationships and responsibilities outside the local team, including working with Product Management (PM), Customers, Business Owners, and other partners.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Work closely with the Product Management, architecture, and technical/delivery leadership to refine and prioritize the backlog of features and user stories.

  • Collaborate with the business partners on refining the scope of features.

  • Coordinate dependencies with other POs during each Program Increment (PI). This often occurs in PO/PM and ART Sync Events.

  • Consider business needs and feasibility aspects to prioritize the team backlog and avoid giving new requirements to the team during the iteration execution.

  • Define user stories and acceptance criteria, and drive backlog refinement events

  • Work closely with ART leadership on defining roadmap and delivery plans for multiple Epics.

  • Participate in Iteration Planning, Iteration Retrospective, and Daily Team Sync ceremonies.

  • Drive quality control of features by testing against Feature/User Story acceptance criteria, Definition of Done and non-functional requirements

  • Work closely with development team and QA team to detect quality issues and help to correct them.

  • Lead the effort in producing the System Demo for program and Value Stream partners.

  • Present accomplished PI Objectives for the team on the Inspect and Adapt Event.

  • Obtain feedback from Business partners and Customers on value of the delivered solutions continuously via interviews, meetings, iteration reviews and system demos. Share the feedback at ART level.

  • Collaborate with other team Product Owners in the Digital program on features that support the broader eCommerce solution.

  • Participate in Product Owner (PO) Community of Practice (CoP)

  • Document new functional features

  • Prepare and participate in Knowledge Transfer sessions among PO’s.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the IT software development field

  • IT Business Systems and e-Commerce Application scope and implementation

  • Data query language and reporting tools (Excel, Access, PL/SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Azure DevOps, MS Teams, MURAL, etc.)

  • Process and Scope Modelling

  • Knowledge of PO Roles & Responsibilities within a SAFe environment

  • Understanding of project management phases, techniques, and tools for a successful execution of Waterfall, Agile and/or hybrid methodologies.

  • Sophisticated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and influence

Preferred Qualifications that Set you apart :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field

  • Scale Agile SAFe for Teams certificate

  • Scale Agile SAFe for Product Owner/Product Manager certificate

  • Experience with a distributed team and building successful teams

  • Knowledge of Automation Solutions, Digital Customer Experience, Global Online Store
