RESPONSIBILITIES The Home Health Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant/COTA conducts treatments as assigned by the OT and outlined in the treatment plan to patients in their place of residence.

  • Conduct treatments associated with functionality, activities of daily living/ADL's, and fine motor coordination based on the patient's physical, social, and cultural environment.
  • Monitor patient's response to intervention and consult with the Occupational Therapist if modification is required.
  • Train and educate patient, family, and caregivers in the use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
  • Assist the OT in the evaluation process and in identifying short-term and long-term goals and treatment plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an ACOTE accredited 2 year associate OTA degree program.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a COTA in this state.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Minimum 1 year recent work experience as a COTA.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance.
  • Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and communicating with patients and caregivers.
  • Ability to meet productivity expectations, organize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Work independently without supervision, and use good judgment in difficult situations.
  • Possess personal sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others and a non-judgmental attitude towards persons of differing standards, values, lifestyles, and ages.
