KBR is seeking a highly motivated self-starter, adaptable to a fast-paced exciting environment as a Provost / Instructional Design Specialist, to support the Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC) at WPAFB, Ohio. The Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC) is the joint USAF & USSF acquisition course in which only the most highly qualified applicants are chosen to attend through a competitive selection process. The AQIC was established under the U.S. Air Force Vice Chief of Staff’s direction to integrate acquisition into the Air Force Weapons School. The AQIC resides as Detachment 2 (Det 2) under the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) with the purpose to cultivate military and civilian instructors within the acquisition force who are skilled in tactical acquisition, instructorship, and operational integration. Within small class sizes, AQIC is intentionally designed to mirror the training methodology, organization, and rigor of the USAF Weapons School curriculum. This is a rare opportunity to provide cutting-edge Subject Matter Expert (SME) support developing the best and brightest young acquisition officers and professionals into expert instructors and integrators who are deliberately and strategically placed throughout the acquisition enterprise to tackle the USAF and USSF toughest problems.

This is not a remote job opportunity. The applicant must be local to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Position Description:

Performs the following duties in support of the Acquisition Instructor Course (AQIC):

  • Provides product support in the form of developing, editing, modifying and teaching course materials IAW Instructional Design (ID) methods. ID, originally known as instructional systems development (ISD), is the practice of systematically designing, developing and delivering instructional materials and experiences, both digital and physical, in a consistent and reliable fashion toward an efficient, effective, appealing, engaging and inspiring acquisition of knowledge.

  • As Provost, responsible for leading the Academic Team in providing and developing AQIC content supporting Detachment 2/AQIC mission and vision.

  • Leads development, administration, coordination, and quality control for all syllabus items.

  • Oversees faculty development, outreach, curriculum exchanges & continuum of learning.

  • Coordinates with external organizations (AETC, AFIT & DAU) to ensure AQIC meets or exceeds academic standards required to validate graduate-level accreditation.

  • POC for ensuring new course development and execution following prescribed processes.

  • Coordinates w/ the appropriate organizations to draft all AQIC syllabus changes/amendments as required (gathers requirements from current/potential customers for courses, provides course objectives, audience, classification, prerequisites, number of students, number of convenings per year, teaching venue, etc.).

  • Assure Semi-Annual AQIC syllabus reviews are accomplished.

  • Validates Course Instructors (both uniform & contractor).

  • Provide oversight and direction for the accomplishment of curricula and course material updates in accordance with all AQIC syllabus requirements.

• Validate contract instructor requirements for Academic Instructor Courses

• Become Instructor certified within the first six months of assignment to Det 2/AQIC

• Support any additional projects as requested by Det 2/AQIC Commander

• Advises and reports to the Det 2/AQIC Commander

  • Tracks and expedites internal and external AQIC syllabus actions/products through to completion.

Required Experience:

  • Ability to perform required tasks in support of students/clients interested in Acquisition Management and to offer real-life examples of first-hand knowledge of related DoD policies and practices.

  • Demonstrated experience with related Air Force Instructions (AFI), DoD instructions (DoDI), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

  • Demonstrated professional knowledge with 10 years of current/recent specialized experience in a relevant professional career field.

  • Experience with a program using the Adaptive Acquisition Framework, or other rapid fielding process, is desirable.

  • Possess the ability to communicate clearly and expertly (in English) in both verbal and written forms concerning academic, administrative, and technical subject matters.

  • Offer real-life examples of first-hand knowledge of DoD policies and practices related to acquisition management experiences.

  • Ability to travel out of local area 25% of calendar year if needed.

Required Education: An earned bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study with demonstrated teaching ability. A Master of Science degree (or higher) and/or professional teaching experience of adult students is highly desirable.

Security Clearance Requirement: Eligible to obtain a TOP SECRET security clearance background check investigation and possess a government common access card (CAC)
