Summary
The Finance Director will report to the CFO of HII Technical Solutions Division (TSD) and will be responsible for Business Management and Financial Analysis for the Unmanned Systems (UxS) business unit (BU). The Finance Director will lead a small team of finance managers and analyst. Finance Director’s main responsibilities include:
Direct BU’s financial strategy and processes in support of business growth and profitability goals, while assessing and mitigating business and financial risk.
Lead functions, such as Planning and Analysis, Annual budgeting, Indirect rates and costs, Program cost control, Financial analysis and reporting, etc.
Collaborate with functional department and line management organizations to ensure an internal control posture exists to sufficiently protect company assets and meet compliance requirements in financial reporting.
Support M&A activities in collaboration with TSD and HII leadership, especially HII Treasury
Provide financial advisory to partnerships with external companies
Strategic Responsibilities:
Take financial reporting to the next level by implementing continuous improvement in form of automated and repeatable processes
Instill strategic view in finance team by increasing flexibility and can-do attitude
Develop next level of leadership in finance
Be a trusted partner of TSD Executives and BU President on matters of routine and ad-hoc analyses that helps improve top and bottom line growth.
Tactical Responsibilities
Oversee generation of reports that track financial matrix, compare against plan, develop variances, etc.
Coordinate with BU finance staff as well as with project control staff to understand and consolidate variance explanations.
Consolidate annual plan, monthly forecast, and monthly variance analyses.
Track strategic investments including capex, IR&D, and BD expenses.
Performa ad-hoc analyses as needed
What you will do:
In this highly visible role, the director will work with various functions across TSD and HII. The director will regularly interact directly with TSD and Corporate other executives.
Knowledge Skills
Working knowledge of the Cost Point and the GL structure
Familiarity across the broad spectrum of finance, accounting, and business management functions in a business unit with multi-million dollar revenue.
Working knowledge of government accounting to assist with decisions surrounding proper cost collection and support of DCAA/DCMA audits.
Ability to lead finance team
Ability to do talent development of team members
Ability to think strategically that allows for process improvements
Understanding of corporate finance functions including FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, etc.
Understanding of government contracting and all different contract types used in government contracting.
Familiarity with GAAP and public company financial cycle will be desirable.
Understanding of Financial Statements (IS, BS, CF) and understanding of financial matrix that are used to evaluate financial performance.
Exposure to manufacturing focused business is desirable
Ability to work independently and with extended teams.
Ability to think independently to suggest ideas of process standardizations.
Analytical mind, comfort with presenting to C-suite.
What you must have:
10 year relevant progressive experience with Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, or STEM; 8 years relevant progressive experience with Master’s degree in related field.
8-10 years’ experience in corporate finance, preferably for a government contracting company.
Extra Bonus for:
- Experience with Costpoint, Cognos, OneStream, SAP SAC, Central Finance highly desirable
