Job Description

As a member of the R&D group, you will collaborate with the sales and production departments to develop innovative solutions for our customers. You will create products from scratch in a test kitchen environment, identify scale-up opportunities, and support production trial runs. This role involves managing multiple projects related to new product development and ensuring effective communication with management and leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new products in a test kitchen environment.

  • Identify and support scale-up opportunities and production trial runs.

  • Manage multiple projects focused on new product development.

  • Support customer needs and specifications based on their requests.

  • Communicate effectively throughout projects to keep management and leadership informed.

  • Coordinate with external vendors for ingredients and other material needs.

  • Collect and enter formulations and yield information.

  • Maintain information on ingredient specifications, formulas, processes, and analytical data such as quality attributes, yield information, and sensory results.

  • Report on sample status to team members and discuss business implications.

  • Identify plant and process improvement initiatives.

  • Support cost-out initiatives on existing products and processes, following through with plant trials.

  • Organize internal product cuttings with customers or the manufacturing team.

Work Environment

Work will be done in a small kitchen with other food scientists working on projects. Team works together but also independently for client projects. This person will be spending time within both test kitchen and production/manufacturing environments.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an Associate or Bachelors degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Culinary

  • Previous culinary experience is preferred
