Job Description

Your Contribution:

As Mechanical Reliability Engineer for Raymarine UK Ltd you’ll investigate, design and develop solutions to improve product quality and reliability. Using excellent design engineering and production knowledge you will use quality tools and project management skills to investigate, develop and implement mechanical solutions to complex engineering problems.

You will use your knowledge and experience to investigate quality issues and use project management skills to manage implementation of solutions. Internally you will work closely with our engineering teams to review product designs and warranty data and use quality tools to assess failure modes and identify root causes. You will have total responsibility to identify design solutions, implement tests or design equipment necessary to prove solutions. This is both a hands on and analytical role where you’ll have total control and responsibility for all tasks necessary to find and implement a solution.

The role is exciting and varied and will rely heavily on your communication & problem-solving skills, engineering knowledge and self-motivation to drive your solutions through the engineering team, suppliers and into production. Collaboration, ability to influence and team work are essential personal traits required for this role

Your Job in Plain Text:

  • Responsible for root cause analysis and problem solving of product and production reported quality issues

  • Ownership of design, development and testing of solutions through experimentation and environmental testing

  • Project management of assigned issues, ensuring problems are managed for time, quality, cost and risk mitigation

  • Provide support to, and liaise with, all internal departments and off-site manufacturers and suppliers to investigate and solve engineering issues reported through warranty

  • Provide Project Teams with lessons learnt information from the failure analysis, providing proactive input and continuous improvement of Raymarine products

  • Maintain close liaison with manufacturing partners to ensure all modifications and designs are fit for purpose and designed for manufacture

  • Working closely with the company Supply Chain and Product Management teams to address technical and quality issues identified by manufacturers, suppliers & customers

To be ready to take on this role we would love it if you have:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering

  • Extensive component design experience and use of 3D CAD (SolidWorks)

  • Familiarity with the use of engineering investigation using quality and problem solving techniques

  • Experience of part manufacturing and production line experience inc. injection Moulding and pressure die casting

  • Experience working with onsite design and offshore manufacturers

  • Good understanding of Microsoft software packages including MS, Power BI and SAP an advantage

  • Familiarity with the use of inspection tools (CMM use an advantage)

  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written

  • Sailing/maritime knowledge would be an advantage but not essential.

  • Willingness to travel internationally when required (<5%)
