The role

The Raytheon UK Training Transformation team has a fantastic opportunity for an energetic and confident Project Manager to join the Selborne Training Equipment team.

The Selborne Training Equipment Project Manager will play a key role at the heart of the Raytheon UK Selborne Training Equipment Service, supporting the delivery of training for the Royal Navy as part of Team Fisher.

Raytheon UK’s role within Team Fisher is to deliver training design and transformation and training equipment support across the majority of the Royal Navy’s individual training courses and establishments.

Working at the centre of the Training Equipment team, the Project Manager will be critical in maintaining the smooth running and management of the Training Equipment team’s activities and their monitoring and reporting, liaising closely with the Selborne Programme Change team and managing change involving training equipment. The Training Equipment Project Manager will report directly to the Selborne Programme Manager.

Main Duties

  • Development of programme and project plans to support Training Equipment team activities as required.

  • Leadership and delivery of programmes and projects within the Training Equipment team.

  • Regular review and updating of cross-functional management plans.

  • Identification of risks and opportunities and the development and execution of mitigation and exploitation plans.

  • Identification and delivery of enhancements to systems and processes.

  • Management of the Training Equipment change process, including the management of Baseline Change Requests and Work Authorisations.

  • Monitoring of programme and project progress and escalate issues that impact progress.

  • Compile and submit programme status reports and briefs to the Customer and Raytheon management.

  • Sustain collaborative relationships with the Customer, Partners and across Raytheon.

  • Below are both the Essential and Desirable candidate qualities.

Essential:

  • Working knowledge of project management software tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel and other relevant applications

  • A self-starting and capable manager, able to effect change through the matrix organisation, even where direct hierarchical control does not exist

  • An ability to anticipate and solve problems

  • An ability to work effectively within a team, and to support others

  • A relevant Programme / Project Management qualification such as: Prince2; APMP; MSP

  • A willingness to travel to sites across the UK (3-4 days per month)

Desirable:

  • Degree qualified in a technical or project management related discipline, or with equivalent non-academic experience

  • Some experience of working within the defence industry or alongside an MOD customer

  • Experience of working on agile programmes

  • Interested in continuous professional development of self and others
