Reporting to the Director of Finance and Data Analytics, the Financial Analyst is responsible for the administration of both revenue and expenditure accounting functions at the College. Responsibilities will include the oversight of daily to long-term financial analyses that support strategic decision making. A high level of independent judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills, and the ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and discretion are required. This function includes the processing of revenue, bank reconciliations, preparation of revenue and other journal transfers, revenue and expenditure data analysis, financial reporting to SUNY and other external agencies, and other related accounting duties. Additional responsibilities include the monitoring of grant budgets and awards in relation to state funding sources.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the College's Uniform Revenue Accounting System (URAS) and Banner Finance functions. Ensure proper recording and reconciliation of accounting transactions in Banner. Responsible for the creation of Banner detail codes and accounts, journal entries, balancing of funds, etc.

  • Provide accurate and timely submission of quarterly and annual financial reporting to SUNY (i.e., bank reconciliations, revenue collections, accounts receivable aging reports).

  • Responsible for reporting to external entities (i.e., accreditation, surveys, sales tax, sole custody, single audit, unrelated business income)

  • Assist with the oversight of TouchNet Marketplace for non-student billing revenue streams and be a liaison to IT for the creation of online stores and to Student Accounts for transactional errors.

  • Support the management and financial reporting of grants through state funding sources (i.e., SUNY PIF grants, coordinating with the Research Foundation and College Foundation).

  • Assist the budget function of the Finance Office by providing support for the following processes: revenue projections, course fees, broad-based fees, cash reserves, and budget planning.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a business-related field.

  • Minimum of three year's experience working in finance/accounting.

  • Proven analytical skills, proficiency in Excel (i.e., pivot tables, advanced/combined formulas, charting capabilities, trend analysis and forecasting).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and work in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with the State University of New York revenue accounting system (URAS), experience working with the SUNY Business Intelligence Finance tool, and familiarity with the Statewide Financial System (SFS).

  • Working knowledge of the Banner student information system.

  • Experience working in SUNY and/or Higher Education.

  • Process automation experience.

    Additional Information:

This is a full-time UUP position.

  • For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, April 12, 2024, and ending Thursday, April 25, 2024, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

  • SALARY: $65,000 + $3,087 in downstate location pay = $68,087 Total Compensation.
