Summary: To assure smooth and efficient operation of the school withrespect to all duties which may be assigned by the principal
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. {#essential-duties-and-responsibilities-include-the-following.-other-duties-may-be-assigned. align="left"}
Records absences, late arrivals, prepares, and sends notices to parents/guardians concerning absences
Receives visitors, ascertains purpose of visit, and refers to appropriate person/area
Maintains an accurate log of visitors calls
Receives and disseminates all incoming calls
Records and distributes messages
Arranges appointments and answers inquiries
Greets visitors, determines nature of business, and directs visitors to destination
Maintains calendars of school events
Performs typing duties necessary for the efficient operation of the school
Operates standard office machines and equipment incidental to clerical and typing assignments
Receives and sorts mail and deliveries

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
At least a high school diploma
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
A working knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
The ability to establish and maintain working relations with all school employees and the general public
The ability to meet the public in an efficient and cordial manner
Prior secretarial experience

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ten month employment. Salary to be determined by the School Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of the position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Prince Edward County School Boards policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
