Job Summary: The resident assistant is a member of the Assisted Living team who, under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Nursing, provides personal care and assistance to residents in their home environment. Team member works to assure the cleanliness and dignity of each resident. The resident assistant provides basic personal care, including bath and hygiene care, basic grooming, oral care, nail care, toileting, assisting with dressing/undressing, meal assistance, resident transfers and assistance with ambulation, transfers and range of motion exercises. The resident assistant will assist with household duties, such as laundry, ironing, vacuuming, preparing the dining rooms for meals, cleaning after meals, and serving meals to the residents. The resident assistant is responsible for communicating with the Director of Nursing, resident and family as indicated and is also responsible for reporting unusual conditions, observations and pertinent information to the nursing staff. Must comply with resident rights, abuse reporting and confidentiality/HIPPA policies. Supervise or assist with activity programs and maintain contact with residents who are not involved in activities due to illness, injuries, etc. All employees will respond to the needs of residents, families and visitors by providing immediate assistance. Staff must approach all residents, co-workers, and visitors in a kind, gentle, and friendly manner. Will work to foster and maintain effective relationships within the community and function as a member of the team, assisting and supporting co-workers as needed. Team members must perform all duties in a professional manner and comply with all community policies. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Supervise or assist with the use of transportation (if applicable).

Minimum Qualifications Required: Education: Preferably a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience desired. Licensure/Certification: None required prior (CPR training will be provided after hire if needed) Must demonstrate competency in the following areas: Vital signs ADL's Medication supervision/assistance (if applicable) Read, write and understand the English language Freedom from illegal use of drugs Freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. Persons who have been found guilty by a court law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position Demonstrates effective time management skills
