and offers Bachelors\' degrees in mathematics, secondary education in
mathematics, and data science; Masters\' degrees in mathematics,
mathematics education, and statistics; and a graduate certificate in

About the Position
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Northern Arizona
University (NAU) seeks a dynamic and innovative educator for an
Assistant Professor of Practice position in Secondary Mathematics
Education beginning August 19, 2024. The successful applicant will
further NAU\'s commitment to strategically increase its capacity to
provide local and national leadership in secondary mathematics education
through teacher preparation, innovative undergraduate and graduate
programs, and professional development. This is a 9 month non tenure
track position.
Responsibilities Include:
- Teaching undergraduate mathematics and mathematics education
courses. Depending on qualifications, may also include teaching
graduate mathematics education courses.
- Teaching courses in the NAUTeach Program (the undergraduate joint
secondary [grades 7-12] mathematics and science education
program).
- Supervision of undergraduate students in practicum courses.
- Ability to contribute to program development and expansion.
- Faculty service.
This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to
complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with
or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned Master\'s degree in mathematics education [or in a closely
related field] expected by August 19, 2024.
- Three or more years teaching experience in grades 7 through 12.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned doctoral degree.
- Substanti l evidence of high-quality teaching.
- Demonstrated interest/ability to contribute to the department\'s
mathematics education program.
- Demonstrated interest/ability to teach in a variety of modalities,
such as in-person, hybrid, and online.
- Five or more years of teaching experience in teaching mathematics at
the middle or secondary school level, preferably in the United
States.
- Experience in teaching and developing pedagogical courses for
combined mathematics and science preservice teachers.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with pre-service and in-service
teachers.
- Strong mathematics content preparation as exemplified by completed
graduate content courses in mathematics.
Compensation & Benefits
Anticipated salary range is \$60,000 to \$65,712. Annual salary
commensurate with candidate\'s qualifications and related experience.
This is a Faculty (FAC) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit
