The opportunity:
The Asst. Power & Recovery Superintendent is responsible in providing day-to-day leadership for all department employees to improve safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost control, and production for the Power/Recover department. Responsible for implementing and maintaining management systems to ensure continued improvement to overall process areas. Foster and develop partnerships with adjoining production areas to execute an aligned mill strategy. Always promote internal customer engagement and satisfaction as a cornerstone. The Asst. Power Superintendent reports to the Power Superintendent of the Mill.

Accountable for an accident-free work environment by managing the departments SOPs, JHAs and SES systems
Assure all Safety and Environmental standards are achieved or exceeded
Engage in Operational Excellence (LSS), driving results to achieve a world class low-cost process.
Implement process improvement projects to optimize equipment and reduce downtime
Optimize recovery boiler operation and power generation to maximize production and reduce downtime and costs
Communicate with other department managers to optimize mill production
Promote team concept with supervisors and operators to assure continuity in reaching common production goals
Encourage a behavior-based safety process
Review environmental compliance measures daily
Initiate process improvement projects to eliminate emissions/releases
Maintain asset management systems to improve equipment performance and reliability
Ensure the training program for operators and foreman is current and appropriate training levels are met
Promote ISO standards throughout department
What you need to succeed:
B.S. Engineering (Pulp & Paper or CHE) preferred, or a combination of education and experience
Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in mill process, production or maintenance
Minimum 3 years in a supervisory position
Experience with PI System (Process Information System)
