Collins Aerospace is looking for an Aircraft Structural Mechanic, Composites II to fill a high-impact role focused on delivering repair and overhaul solutions for many of the world’s largest airlines and aviation customers. This role will support advanced composite construction for the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) business.

This position is currently working Onsite at our Foley, AL Location.

Position will need to work 1st shift 5:15am – 2:15pm and also be flexible to work 2nd shift 1:15pm-11:45pm.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals, service bulletins, drawings, engineering orders, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repair, replacement, or modification.

  • Familiar with company, regulatory, and customer specifications as applied to aircraft component return to service tasks.

  • Dis-assembly, Prep, Layup and Bag composite and/or metal bond repairs on Engine Nacelle components.

  • Complete necessary paperwork to meet company, regulatory and customer requirements to accomplish tasks.

  • Perform repairs on various types of aircraft components, while maintaining company specifications, Industry standards, regulatory specifications, and customer specifications.

  • Aid in evaluation to ensure corrective measures; aid quality inspectors in completion of unit return to service.

  • Demonstrate a general mechanical ability to work various aircraft component composite repairs and rework using hand tools like drills, Cutters, Sanders, Spray Guns and precision measuring instruments.

  • May be required to pass annual certification test verifying ability to operate machinery, equipment, forklift, and overhead cranes.

  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing and to participate in team problem solving and team CI activities.

  • Follows all safety and environment practices. Is aware of and looks for potential safety hazards. Takes needed action if issue arise.

  • Supports Continuous Improvement (CI) activity.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Must have a High School Diploma with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required. In the absence of a HS Diploma or GED 3 years of Relevant experience is required.

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee status) as defined here:

  • https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

  • One year or more experience is required in the composite and metal bond repair field.

  • One year or more experience with general hand and/or power tools is required.

  • One or more years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and Standard Repair Manuals (SRM) is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Be familiar with aircraft specifications as applied to final and in-process inspections.

  • Preferred experience including wet lay-ups, pre-impregnated layups and bagging depending on the application.

  • Preferred experience in operating ovens, hot bonders, and autoclave
