Queens Community House Coordinator, Friendly Visiting in Forest Hills, New York

We are seeking a full-time Coordinator, with a strong commitment to volunteer engagement and a passion for working with a diverse community of people. The Coordinator will aid in the coordination of the Friendly Visiting volunteer program and more broadly support the agency’s network of programs through referring potential volunteer candidates. This position reports to the Lead Coordinator. Friendly Visiting provides volunteers to visit homebound older adults to reduce isolation, provide companionship and monitor general well-being.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination of the Friendly Visiting Program with a focus on recruiting, interviewing, placement, and monitoring volunteers.

  • Conduct initial screening of all potential QCH volunteers, providing information about Friendly Visiting and making referrals to other QCH programs as necessary.

  • Manage Friendly Visiting volunteer onboarding and orientation process.

  • Completed weekly/monthly reports and data entry as required by the funder, NYC Aging.

  • Coordinate and execute volunteer appreciation events, training, and other opportunities for volunteer recognition.

  • Manage Friendly Visiting volunteer social media groups and develop content for monthly volunteer newsletters and tip sheets.

  • Identify and attend community outreach and volunteer attraction opportunities such as fairs, local markets, organizations, and businesses.

  • Maintain accurate records and provide statistical and activity reports on Friendly Visiting volunteer participation.

  • Participate in meetings, training and staff development activities.

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.  

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, Communications, Non-profit Leadership, Public Administration or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Services, Social Services, Social Work, Non-profit, or a related field

  • Strong leadership skills including motivating, directing and mobilizing volunteers

  • Community minded with strong relationship-building and networking skills

  • Proven organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Available to work occasional evenings and some weekends as needed

  • If hired, must be cleared of NYS Clearance Review Background Check

PREFERRED skills/experience/qualities:

  • Ability to speak Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin, and/or Cantonese)

  • Volunteer experience working with older adult populations.

Status: Full-Time

Compensation: $27.47/hour

Schedule: 35 hours a week / occasional weeknight evenings and weekends as necessary
