Eyecare is a strategically important Therapeutic Area within AbbVie and Glaucoma represents the biggest portfolio with a range of market leading glaucoma drops. Surgical devices complement this portfolio in an important way and physician training is central to the successful adoption of new technology into clinical practice.
The XEN Surgical Specialist has primary responsibility for training Ophthalmology Surgeons on the use of the XEN Gel implant for the treatment of glaucoma, ensuring that they move through the learning curve smoothly and adopt XEN into their clinical practice.
Key responsibilities include:
Customer engagement and surgical training
Grow the XEN business and establish strong positioning for the brand in Scandinavia.
Book and execute sales calls/meetings and execute customer contacts with high quality and impact.
Train and assist surgeons before, during and after XEN implant procedures. Identify new surgeons, and keep more experienced surgeons up to date with trainings and educations.
Develop and/or implement suitable activities for customer engagement aligned to XEN strategy and identify local referral opportunities.
Business Planning and Follow-Up
To identify and prioritize target customers and accounts.
To collect information and data, to analyze, to create insights, to plan business and actions.
To implement and update Key Account Plans as required in collaboration with Eye Care Account Managers.
Please note that this is a field based position covering all three Scandinavian countries and therefore requiring extensive travel in Scandinavia.
Education & Experience
Business and/or scientific degree
Experience from working successfully as a Medical Sales Representative or pharma sales representative.
Experience from training environment and assisting doctors in the operating-theatre.
Solid & consistent track record delivering/exceeding sales targets and activity levels with customers.
Knowledge of healthcare systems in Scandinavia (organization, funding, regulation)
Essential Skills and abilities:
Strong business acumen and relationship building
Excellent communication skills
Strong selling skills in both face to face and digital environment.
Good scientific knowledge & ability to learn quickly
