Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our high school's Speech team as an Assistant Individual Speech Coach. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for effective communication and theatre performance, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and be dedicated to fostering the talents of high school students in the realm of Individual speech.Essential Functions :

  • Collaborate with the head coach to develop and implement a tailored curriculum for indivdual speech events.

  • Create engaging exercises and activities to enhance students' public speaking, argumentation, and interpretation skills.

  • Provide constructive feedback on performances, focusing on both content and delivery.

  • Work closely with students to develop and perfect their speeches and performances for individual events.

  • Assist students in selecting appropriate material for their events and ensure adherence to competition guidelines.

  • Conduct mock competitions and simulations to prepare students for actual events.

QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentPrevious experience in public speaking, theatre performance, or related activities preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills• Patience, empathy, and the ability to motivate and inspire students.• Understanding of the educational value of speech and debate activities.• Strong knowledge of various speech events and competition formats.

Travel Requirements

  • Travels to school district buildings and contests/festivals as required.
