The Cybersecurity Engineer shall aid the Government Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in ensuring the program obtains and retains an authority to operate (ATO) for all instances. The Cybersecurity Engineer will work with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to ensure the Risk Management Framework (RMF) is followed, maintaining the accreditation and authorization process for the ZTA mission, which includes Engineering Development, Cloud Lab Support and any possible software that is developed for Agency or Mission Partner use. This includes all Risk Management Framework (RMF) documents, Security Controls, Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) actions and Plan of Action and Milestones POAMs. The Cybersecurity Engineer will assist the ISSO in initiating, protective or corrective measures for cybersecurity incidents or vulnerabilities discovered and ensure processes are in place for authorized users to report all cybersecurity-related events and potential threats and vulnerabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes and defines security requirements for multilevel security (MLS) systems

  • Design, develops, engineers, and integrates solutions to MLS requirements

  • Conducts security audits

  • Generates system-level security documentation

  • Supports the development of System Operation Procedure documents

  • Applies knowledge of IT Governance requirements, risk mitigation strategies, and encryption and decryption capabilities to establish secure solutions

  • Performs risk analysis, including risk assessment processes and procedures

  • Recommends information assurance/security solutions to support customers’ requirements.

  • Performs analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures.

  • Designs, develops, engineers, and implements solutions that meet security requirements.

  • Provides integration and implementation of the computer system security solution.

  • Analyzes general information assurance-related technical problems and provides basic engineering and technical support in solving these problems.

  • Performs vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle

  • The contactor shall develop Zero Trust (ZT) architecture documentations to include adoption of architectural and reference design, security controls and technologies along with implementation considerations.

  • Product Evaluations

  • EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably in roles involving ISSO responsibilities.

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or other relevant certifications are highly desirable.

  • Experience with ZTA or similar modern security architectures is a plus.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the DoDIN, ZTA Requirements and Technical Evaluations as inputs to develop ZTA reference architectures and security models.

  • Demonstrated success in implementing/managing Risk Management Framework (RMF)

  • Demonstrated experience in Multilevel (MLS) security systems
