U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Operations Research Analyst in Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as an Operations Research Analyst for the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence, located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Responsibilities Applying mathematical or statistical tools, models, methods, and techniques, to perform as the authoritative source of technical input to publications or other documents that are the basis for formulating policy. Identifying, developing, and integrating pertinent information through various data collection/analysis procedures and technologies, anticipating major problems and recognizing future needs. Adapt sophisticated analytical, mathematical, or statistical techniques and occasionally principles of related disciplines such as engineering, finance, or economics to resolve problems. Identify the effects associated with implementing proposed standards, regulations, and policies. Working knowledge of medical terminology, nomenclatures, Military Health System and DOD databases, to adequately analyze requirements and recommend operations research applications to support study efforts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes independently performing scientific work that involves designing, developing, and adapting optimization models, data analysis, mathematical analysis, statistical analysis, and other scientific methods and techniques. Experience analyzing management problems using data science modeling and predictive and prescriptive analytics to provide decision support and insight about the probable effects of alternative solutions to these problems. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
