Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, purchasing, and/or implementing integrated manufacturing processes in an industrial plant.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
Manage processes to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
Work with engineering to identify problems with product and performance and recommends solutions or enhancements
Performs equipment design evaluations and may develop new processes
Plans and designs methods to improve efficiency in production
Responsible for Capital Projects: process improvement, development of new manufacturing processes, implementing automation, and documentation
Manage/Supervise the Maintenance team
Manage/Supervise New Production Introduction Team
Proactively identify and address potential production disruptions
Proactively identify and address safety related process and equipment issues
Must be able to work in a professional manner with all customers (internal / external) and suppliers
This position is a member of the plant leadership team responsible for making business decisions to continue to drive Nelson safety, quality, and profitability.
Some travel will be required
All other duties as assigned
Required Education & Experience:
Degree (BS/BE/MS/ME) in the field of Mechanical, industrial, or Production Engineering.
Minimum 4 years' experience in manufacturing engineering.
Minimum 3 years' experience in supervision
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to develop and implement manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency
Develop equipment to aid in the manufacturing process.
Familiar with manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures
Demonstrated leadership skills
Lean and Six Sigma training desired
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop training and train employees
Excellent problem-solving skills
Project management skills
Computer proficiency in Microsoft and Manufacturing software applications.
Strong leadership skills
Knowledge experience with blueprint reading; manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, tube bending, press/hydraulic operations.
