As a Material Planner at our Massachusetts Bio Campus (MBC) , you will play a critical role in managing the supply of raw materials and packaging components to ensure seamless production operations.
The Material Planner is responsible for managing supply chain activities related to raw materials and component planning, purchasing, and inventory optimization within Mass Bio Campus (MBC).

Main Responsibilities:
Ensuring material availability to meet production plans for both commercial and qualification purposes while optimizing inventory levels and minimizing costs.
Supporting and implementing global supply chain strategies at the site level by leveraging advanced planning tools and processes.
Driving or contributing to continuous improvement initiatives at MBC to enhance operational efficiency.
Providing key insights to internal and external stakeholders to support supply chain planning decisions.
Supporting or leading supply chain activities related to new product launches, bottleneck/critical materials, and long-term supplier relationships.
Demand Management
Analyze historical data, demand trends, production plans, and launch schedules to assess material requirements.
Monitor and challenge material requirements, escalating root causes to appropriate process owners as needed.
Collaborate with site planners and schedulers to align material availability within proper planning horizons, preventing shortages or excess inventory.
Analyze supply/demand exceptions and adjust purchasing plans accordingly.
Identify and communicate critical material risks to the Control Tower and/or Site Leadership Team while contributing to risk mitigation solutions.
Purchasing
Lead operational purchasing and collaborate closely with Procurement, Site Planners, Schedulers, and Quality teams to manage supply risks and inventory targets.
Generate purchase orders based on forecasted demand and supplier lead times.
Work closely with suppliers to manage purchase order (PO) delivery timelines and expedite orders when necessary.
Inventory Management & Analysis
Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts or excessive buildup of raw materials and components.
Identify and address potential inventory issues, including slow-moving items and excess stock.
Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to optimize inventory levels while balancing cost efficiency.
Supplier Coordination
Build and maintain strong relationships with external suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement .
Monitor and manage supplier lead times to prevent production disruption.
Work with key suppliers to establish demand and supply transparency, ensuring supply chain stability.
Analysis & Reporting
Analyze and generate reports on key metrics, including inventory levels, MRP adherence, supplier OTIF (On-Time In-Full), and potential supply chain disruptions .
Utilize system tools to build models and conduct scenario planning to support strategic decision-making.
Provide updates for monthly Site Supply Reviews (SSR) and Critical Material Reviews .
Master Data & System-Driven Planning
Utilize ERP systems and MRP processes to determine optimal raw material/component purchasing quantities and timing.
Configure ERP planning systems to enhance efficiency by factoring in lead times, supply/demand variability, and production cycles.
Act as the owner of all planning-related master data within the ERP system .
About You
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 3 years experience in supply chain or material planning in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 3 years experience purchasing/sourcing raw materials for production in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 3 years experience in inventory management
Minimum 3 years experience using SAP
Experience with MS Office, emphasis on Excel and MS projects.
Experience running cross-funcitonal projects.
Minimum 2 years experience leading cross-functional team to deliver significant results while reporting progress to senior leaders
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree.
Experience working in a CGMP environment.
Experience solving supply shortage problems and making recommendations to implement robust solutions.
APICS certification preferred.
Advanced knowledge with MRP and MPS systems (SAP preferred, Kinaxis a plus)
Strong analytical skills and the ability to structure and perform data analysis.
Ability to articulate complex issues into simple effective messages for management.
Advanced level skills with Microsoft Office suite.
Advanced project management skills, with an emphasis on launching new products or implementing new components.
Familiar with GMP, SOX regulatory, and compliance requirements.
Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.
5 years experience leading a cross-functional team to deliver significant results while reporting progress to senior leaders
Solid inventory management skills with an emphasis on risk reduction.
