Eaton’s Power Systems Division is currently seeking an Electrical Systems Engineering Manager. This position is based at our Franksville, WI facility. Relocation within the United States/PR and company sponsorship will be offered.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $125253.0 - $188100.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

Eaton is currently seeking an Electrical Systems Engineering Manager. This position is part of a multi-disciplined new product development team that develops real-time controls and protective relays used for smart grid applications in the power distribution industry.

We understand the importance of work life balance: you will be located at the Thomas A. Edison Technical Center in Franksville, WI (about 20 miles south of Milwaukee) with a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office/2 days remote (relocation and sponsorship offered to those currently residing in the U.S.).

The Electrical Systems Engineering Manager will provide technical leadership to the teams developing and implementing protection and control solutions and defining systems requirements for the development of embedded controls. This is a key leadership role and will collaborate with product managers and controls engineering functional leaders to execute both new product development and maintenance of line projects.

Technical Leadership

  • Drive development of modern distribution and substation protection solutions. Collaborate, as needed, with Eaton Research Labs, the Center for Intelligent Power, and other internal engineering centers of excellence.

  • Oversee tools and processes for requirements management - development, prioritization, approval, change control, traceability and support of V&V plans and execution.

Business Leadership

  • Leverage Industry Standards, competitive landscape, voice of the customer, and voice of the business to develop requirements and hold design reviews with internal teams balancing risks, project timelines and business goals.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Engineering to define scaled feature definitions enabling faster to market feature introductions followed by incremental enhancements and capabilities.

  • Manage the division’s power systems development platforms and analyze product roadmaps, market trends, requirements, and use-cases to develop and execute technology and platform roadmaps.

People Leadership

  • Manage, develop, and mentor a team of 6+ engineers. Foster technology growth and innovation

  • Own the quality, robustness, predictability, and completeness of the team's output, including tracking and reporting quality metrics.

  • Participate in Agile scrum with a global team – backlog grooming, planning, and bug scrubs. Identify and mitigate risks to enable timely feature implementation and ultimately each product release.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with three-phase AC power systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three or more years' experience leading engineering teams either as a technical lead or a functional manager through all stages of the development lifecycle

  • Two or more years’ experience in PLC programming, digital logic, combinatorial logic, sequential logic, or use of IEC 61131 programming languages

  • Experience in graphical programming languages, such as Eaton ProView, NI LabVIEW, or MATLAB Simulink

  • Knowledge of modern distribution and substation protection and automation schemes, including feeder reconfiguration, volt/var optimization

Skills:

  • Ability to travel up to 15%

  • Ability to effectively explain technical issues/concepts, upward and downward in the organization

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Effectively lead, work, and communicate within a global team environment
