About You and this Role

The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for aHeavy Lift, Crane & Rigging Technical ExpertinFreeport, TX.

The Heavy Lift, Crane & Rigging Technical Expert has the primary functional responsibility of providing Crane & Rigging technical support for Maintenance, Capitol Projects, MRO, and Turnarounds Texas Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all elements of the Global, Life Critical, and Site Safety Standards are effectively integrated into job plans.

  • Primary point of contact for external Crane support.

  • Inboard and outboard inspections of cranes for their safe operation, crane inspection reports and operator certifications.

  • Assess planned activities to determine applicability of Crane standard and OSHA 1926.1400.

  • Support Planning & Scheduling Activities of TXO Mobile Crane & Rigging.

  • Provide oversight of TXO CMS Mobile Crane & Rigging Team.

  • Flag potential hazards and job reviews needed during the planning stages and ensure the appropriate reviews are conducted prior to execution.

  • Critical Lift reviewer/ Critical lift approver.

  • Communicate and assess lift plans with the crews performing the work.

  • Work with site civil engineers to ensure ground bearing pressure is adequate for Crane access roads and crane set up.

  • Participate in field assessments periodically to assess execution of EH&S, hoisting and bull rigging plans.

  • Participate in RCI's that have Crane or rigging issues and help with corrective actions.

  • Ensure Cranes and lifting equipment are inspected and maintained in compliance with OSHA standards.

  • Coordinate repairs and PM’s associated with crane fleet.

  • Coordinate external rented lifting equipment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • NCCCO Crane operator certified for a minimum of 10 years (swing cab, fixed cab).

  • A minimum of 10 years rigging experience.

  • Must have a current, valid US Driver’s License.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications & SAP.

  • Ability to ascertain Dow’s Work Processes and Safety Standards.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and efficient at multitasking.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • 15 or more years in the rigging industry, experience in all types of cranes, (RT, AT, and Lattice boom), rigging systems, & transports.

Additional Notes

  • No relocation assistance is available for this position.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights.
