About You and This Role:

Provides a variety of complex analytical and technical support to Lead Scientists and Technologist Leaders in the preparation and execution of experimental activities. Acts as primary focal point for analytical and technical support of a process, program, product, or application within the work group and for internal/external clients and customers. Provides technical support for product development, application development, technical service, and/or product or process research. Achieves project goals using technical, role-specific skills and experience, and introduces new procedures for new instrument methods, equipment changes, or new equipment.

In this role, you will develop full proficiency in a range of technical processes and procedures through job-related training and on-the-job experience. You will need to be able to apply knowledge of technical processes and procedures to perform a range of work assignments. You need to understand how multiple teams coordinate efforts and resources to achieve objectives and be able to explain complex technical information to members of your own team and other teams.

It is your responsibility to provide solutions to operational or analytical problems using established procedures and practices. You will serve as informal resource on analytical, scientific method, or operational processes for less experienced team members. Your performance impacts the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of your own work and your team’s work. You will receive supervision on new complex assignments.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides analytical and product quality support (specifically water, viscosity, -OH number, CPR and other analyses) to project teams in a laboratory and pilot plant setting.

  • Performs quality checks, calibrations, and routine maintenance on analytical instruments in a production plant setting including synthesizing required reagents.

  • Manages stakeholders to understand and prioritize competing needs and aligns resources to meet critical project timelines.

  • Handles complex laboratory/pilot plant tasks including complex methods and procedures and recommends variations in problem approach with little or no supervision.

  • Holds essential know-how on safe operation of experimentation and on stewardship process ,and implements these to Dow standard.

  • Independently develops and implements experimental plans and acts responsible for a wide variety of complex laboratory/pilot plant tasks requiring complex approaches and procedures.

  • Uses knowledge of the relevant technology consisting of product, test method, and testing equipment to quickly screen alternative approaches and recommends and implements variations in approaches.

  • Understands the group objectives and the business or group's value creating strategy and is an important contributor to the technical solutions that result in project and team success.

  • Trains other work group members and contractors on specific work processes, equipment, and machinery.

  • Defines and implements new testing methods for development purposes which may require creating unique configurations of existing equipment or development/fabrication of new equipment and systems.

  • Identifies the need for and is involved in implementing new processes, procedures or technology to improve performance of work group.

  • Understand the reason for the new technology and understand the fundamentals of the science so that the conceptual design can become reality and develop practical alternatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an associates degree in a science related discipline/Military Degree Equivalency (MDE) and 5 years of relevant work experience or high school diploma/GED and 7 years of relevant work experience.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
