As the EHS Manager for the Shonan site (TSHO), you will lead and manage the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) function for the entire site . This pivotal role involves taking responsibility for all EHS issues, ensuring environmental conservation, safeguarding the health and safety of employees and contractors, and maintaining comfortable working conditions. Additionally, you will support researchers in enhancing the quality of their research by providing essential EHS guidance and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leads risk management related to safety and health in TSHO, coordinating with Global R&D EHS and corporate EHS.
Organizes the TSHO Safety and Health Committee and Liaison Meeting for contractors based on safety and health activities.
Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations through proper administrative procedures.
Contributes to the implementation of Global EHS Standards and ensures operations adhere to them.
Manages safety and health protocols.
Oversees environmental management, including carbon abatement programs (CAPS).
Handles occupational accidents and implements measures for recurrence prevention.
Supports experimental management involving chemicals, radioisotopes, and research environments.
Requirements:
MS/ME in relevant discipline
10+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical and/or chemical industry
Broad knowledge of research, development, and specific R&D working knowledge
Ability to work across multiple continents and cultures
Excellent organizational, operational, and communication skills
Strong business skills including logical thinking, strategic planning, and self-management
Proficiency in written and verbal communication in both Japanese and English
Ph.D. in life science or equivalent [Desired]
EHS related licenses- Class I Health Manager, Health Engineering Officer, Class I Hazardous Chemical Manager, Energy Control Manager and so on. [Desired]

Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45
Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
