CITY OF FULTON Senior Maintenance Supervisor (Parks and Recreation) in Fulton, Missouri

POSITION OVERVIEW

Supervises the maintenance of the City parks and facilities to insure there is a constant clean and safe manner for public enjoyment. Responsible for maintenance associated with 14 parks consisting of 240 acres, City Pool, Legends Rec-Plex, Tanglewood Clubhouse.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Experience, Education, and Training
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree in Horticulture, Forestry, Agronomy, or a closely related field.
  • Preferred two years of supervisory work experience in park resource management.
Requirements
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing and submit to periodic drug testing as required by applicable laws.
  • May be required to work weekends or a variety of shifts.
  • Subject to emergency call-in.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid CDL (A or B) Drivers' License.

OR

  • Must take and pass, at minimum, the written portion of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) exam (permit) within 90 days of hire.

AND

  • A class "B" CDL, at minimum, must then be obtained within the 6-month probationary period.

  • Experience and proficiency with grounds assessment, painting, carpentry, plumbing and electrical.

FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions
  1. Supervises, plans, organizes, prioritizes and directs the work of employees engaged in either the repair and construction, turf management, or second shift operations for parks facilities.
  2. Oversees either the Repair and Construction work group which involves plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, fleet maintenance and concrete work; or the Turf Management program area which includes maintaining soccer, softball, and baseball fields involving applying agronomy techniques, handling parks complex scheduling, as well as general grounds maintenance for all parks; or the Second Shift Operations work group which includes scheduling, planning, and organizing maintenance and repair request, cleaning of all rental areas such as pavilions, restrooms, and picnic areas, removing graffiti and making repairs needed resulting from vandalism, and securing all rental areas nightly.
  3. Provides technical expertiseincluding supervising and instructing employees regarding appropriate techniques, procedures, and methodologies required for assignments including the utilization of safety equipment and procedures.
  4. Completes performance evaluations, recom ends and implements necessary disciplinary action, schedules and approves leave, and participates in and makes recommendations regarding hiring decisions of assigned staff members.
  5. Prepares and maintains required records and reports including payroll, inventory, project status, project costs, etc. as required.
  6. Prepares section budget, monitors expenditures, and writes specifications for purchase of equipment, supplies and commodities and maintains an appropriate supply of needed materials.
  7. Plans, determines, prioritizes and schedules routine and unscheduled maintenance and repairs and develops a preventive maintenance program for assigned section.

  9. Travels to a variety of work site locations.
