ATCC Instrumentation Technician in Gaithersburg, Maryland


The Instrumentation Technician performs troubleshooting on complex instrumentation problems and has primary responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Rees System, Maximo System and equipment calibrations. The incumbent complies with all ATCC policies and procedures.


  • Schedule, coordinate and perform equipment calibration activities on all types of mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment as required by the Calibration program.

  • Administrate the Maximo database to coordinate, monitor, schedule and control the preventive maintenance, calibration, repairs, work orders and any other activity related to the ATCC equipment and assets.

  • Administrate the Rees Temperature Monitoring System.

  • Administrate Pro Cal and/or any other calibration support software as required.

  • Provide configuration support, data reporting, monitoring, updating, and training on the Maximo and Rees systems as required.

  • Coordinate work and monitor performance of any external contractor working on the premises as required.

  • Recommend upgrades or improvements on utilities and facilities systems to increase operational efficiency.

  • Perform on-call duties.

  • Travel and work on all ATCC locations as required.

  • Perform as room champion on Facilities areas as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Comply with the established safety procedures and guidelines at all times.


Education and Experience:

  • Computer science educational background and/or metrology technology educational background required.

  • Seven (7) years minimum work experience with calibration systems operation and Maximo utilization.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to develop complex database reports, queries or data analysis from computer systems.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to provide training to less skilled personnel on the Maximo, ProCal and Rees systems.

  • Ability to cross train with other team members.

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret technical data from complex drawings and manuals.

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Available to work during extended and/or weekends.

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously

  • Good computer skills

  • Able to lift 50 Ibs.

  • Results oriented mentality.

  • Good working attitude.

  • Experience utilizing MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, Maximo, Pro Cal, and Rees.

  • Excellent analytical skills.

  • Follow all company safety practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and policies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
