Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in basic science or equivalent with at least 3 years of research experience.

Job Summary:

Supervises the laboratory and provides operational management, technical support, laboratory training, and mentorship related to research.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the ongoing supervision of the laboratory.

  • Accountable for all budgets involved in the completion of ongoing experiments.

  • Ability to provide staffing of the laboratory as a 24 hour functioning facility.

  • Assists in writing and editing documentation of experiments and in the preparation of the laboratory for these experiments.

  • Schedules all of the procedures to be performed and the experiments to be carried out.

  • Performs the majority of procedures in the laboratory and supervises the laboratory technician in setting up and performing the experiments.

  • Supports postdoctoral fellows in designing and completion of experimental protocols.

  • Assists in design and preparation of abstracts and posters.

  • Designs and carries out research protocols.

  • Assists in the writing and editing of manuscripts to be published in major scientific journals, and in writing grants.

  • Responsible for hiring laboratory personnel.

  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for the department and provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

  • Responsible for data collection and proper storage, maintaining the laboratory equipment, and inventory, and for the quality of the ongoing studies

  • Adheres to internal controls established by the department.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience.
