Cooper Standard Production Associate in Gaylord, Michigan

Cooper Standard of Gaylord is looking to fill Production associate positions!

Position Summary:

Good attitude and work ethic. Flexible to run multiple jobs and machines. Must be able to take direction. One must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Operator has to be capable of standing and using both hands to run a machine for a minimum of 8 hours and sometimes 10 to 12 hours.

Must be a team player.

Must be willing and able to work any shift.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate secondary processing equipment including presses, clippers, molders, and other equipment within work cell according to process sheets and routings.
  • Coordinate work activities with other operators on a rotating basis within the work cell and perform required SMED press die changeovers as needed.
  • Visually inspect all parts produced within cell for acceptable quality standards.
  • Properly pack parts produced in appropriate shipping containers and label all containers with barcodes as required by the standard operating procedures.
  • Perform all charting and measuring requirements such as scrap reporting, labor reporting, SPC charting, and make appropriate entries in Kronos system, etc.
  • Participate in team decision making process and attend team meetings as required using basic problem-solving techniques.
  • Perform any preventative maintenance required for the equipment in the work cell including SMED press die pin lubrication.
  • Thorough understanding of IATF 16949 requirements, plant Operating Procedures, Process Flow, basic Kaizen, and manning to pieces per man hour.
  • Other duties may be required as assigned.

Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in automotive, production, or manufacturing work.
  • Basic math & computer skills. Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions.
  • Ability to perform required physical demands of the essential functions of the job.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Standing a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Ability to make decisions on quality of products they produce. Form, fit and function of parts.

Work Environment/Work Conditions:

  • Production Floor environment
  • Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
  • Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury

*Starting pay is $20.00/hr with 2nd and 3rd shift premium of $.50/hr.
