Honeywell Environmental Manager in Geismar, Louisiana

THE BUSINESS

In October 2024, Honeywell announced the spin-off of our Advanced Materials business to become a stand-alone publicly traded company, independent of Honeywell. Our intention is that this role, dedicated to the Advanced Materials business, will be a part of this future transaction when the separation occurs.

This position is intended to convey to the new, independent company, to be named Solstice Advanced Materials when the separation occurs. This is expected to occur in late 2025 or early 2026.

THE POSITION

The Environmental Manager will be responsible for overseeing environmental compliance and the performance of the Environmental team across assigned sites. This role will involve driving automation and digitization initiatives, implementing best practices for compliance documentation, conducting comprehensive training for staff, and ensuring adherence to existing regulations.

Additionally, the manager will lead projects aimed at enhancing the compliance of wastewater treatment plants, develop a focused, high-performing team, and reduce reliance on external consultants.

You will report directly to our Director of Environmental Management and work out of our Geismar or Baton Rouge, LA locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Environmental Compliance Oversight:

  • Monitor and ensure daily environmental compliance across assigned sites utilizing real-time dashboards.

  • Manage and support the Environmental team members to ensure the effectiveness of compliance initiatives.

  • Automation and Digitization Programs:

  • Lead the development and implementation of programs aimed at automating and digitizing environmental compliance processes.

  • Collaborate with IT and relevant stakeholders to integrate new technologies that enhance efficiency.

  • Documentation of Compliance Methodologies:

  • Implement best practices for documenting environmental compliance methodologies and procedures.

  • Create user-friendly guides tailored for non-Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) personnel to facilitate understanding and adherence to compliance requirements.

  • Training Development and Implementation:

  • Develop comprehensive training programs focused on compliance requirements for all levels of the organization.

  • Schedule and deliver training sessions regularly, assessing knowledge retention and skill application.

  • Regulatory Applicability Determinations:

  • Lead efforts to determine the applicability of new and existing environmental regulations to processes and operations.

  • Ensure timely updates and communication of relevant changes to all stakeholders.

  • Project Management for Wastewater Treatment Plant:

  • Organize and drive improvement projects targeting compliance and operational efficiency of wastewater treatment plants.

  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to achieve compliance objectives.

  • Team Development:

  • Build and maintain a high-performing environmental expertise-focused team at assigned sites.

  • Mentor team members and promote professional development opportunities.

  • Cost Reduction Initiatives:

  • Identify opportunities to reduce consultant spend by enhancing internal capabilities.

  • Implement strategies to leverage in-house expertise effectively.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental management or compliance, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including Title V permitting and compliance, NPDES permitting and compliance, and large quantity RCRA generator requirements.

  • Proven experience in leading automation and digitization initiatives.

  • Experience with PowerBI and Power Apps is a plus.

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and work effectively with a diverse range of personnel.

  • Experience in wastewater treatment plant operations and compliance improvements is an advantage.

WE VALUE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO 14001 standards.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools related to environmental performance.

  • A relevant master's degree or certifications (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional) is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The position may require occasional travel to various sites and external meetings.

  • The role involves working in both office and on-site environments, which may include exposure to various operational conditions.
