Robert Half Accounts Payable Clerk in Geneseo, New York

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a meticulous Accounts Payable Clerk in the service industry located in Geneseo, New York. The individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records by managing the accounts payable process efficiently. This role includes processing invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and ensuring timely payments.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately receive and review vendor invoices for completeness

• Code and input invoices into the accounting system, ensuring proper approval and documentation for all invoices

• Prepare and process regular payment runs, verifying and reconciling payment batches before processing

• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies in payment processing

• Maintain vendor relationships and communicate effectively regarding payment inquiries

• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

• Negotiate payment terms and discounts with vendors when applicable

• Process employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies

• Reconcile credit card statements and receipts with expense reports

• Maintain organized and up-to-date records of accounts payable transactions

• Generate and analyze reports related to accounts payable activities

• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations

• Stay informed about changes in financial regulations that may impact accounts payable processes

• Assist in both internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation and information

• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Requirements • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Proven experience in the role of Accounts Payable Clerk or a similar position

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Strong knowledge and understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) processes and procedures

• Excellent numerical skills with attention to detail

• Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must demonstrate problem-solving skills and initiative in finding workable solutions to complex accounting issues

• Knowledge of general accounting principles and regulatory standards

• Ability to analyze information and processes.
