Brown County Department of Job and Family Services Children Protective Services Ongoing Caseworker in Georgetown, Ohio

A Children Protective Services Ongoing Caseworker performs various tasks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in the community. This Individual aids families having problems concerning family relationships or other aspects of their social functioning affecting the unity of the family through safety and risk assessment, case management and planning, and interventions that support the well-being of children.

An effective Children Protective Services Ongoing Caseworker has the ability to work diligently to help maintain smooth office operations. This Individual must be reliable and hardworking with great communication skills. This Individual also should be familiar with State and Government procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate complaints of child abuse, neglect, and dependency, assesses risk of further abuse/neglect and the need for continued protective services in-home and out of home. 
  • Complete investigation reports and work with law enforcement and court personnel in prosecution of child abuse cases.
  • Testify in criminal and civil court hearings when necessary.
  • Manage an ongoing caseload of children in custody and/or involved with Children Services. 
  • File complaints/motions and testify in Juvenile court in regard to abuse/neglect cases and provides accommodations for need for continued protective services. 
  • Initiate case plan development and coordinate services as related to such.
  • Update case records while maintaining complete and accurate case files including summaries, required forms, dictations, and other documentation for the record and SACWIS computer system.
  • Attend trainings, staff meetings, case conferences, treatment team meetings, and participates in community resource coordination. 
  • Work alone or with other persons in short or long-term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects at the direction of any supervisor or Director. 
  • Work aggressively to reduce or eliminate safety/risk concerns in current position or work location. 
  • Report safety/risk management issues to immediate supervisor.
  • Complete any new and other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services-Related Studies.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Quality organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.
