Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Endoscopy Technician, you will be responsible for procedure room turnover and the care, handling and reprocessing of endoscopy procedural equipment and supplies.

  • You will recognize and communicate all abnormal findings and report findings to the nurse

  • You will assist with and perform skilled procedures as delegated by professional staff and physician

  • You will demonstrate proficiency in specialized department equipment, as well as in patient monitoring while also providing clear and concise reports or patient conditions and progress

  • You will show proficiency in sterile and aseptic technique, maintain a sterile field, and report breaks in aseptic technique

  • You will maintain a clean, well organized, and adequately stocked patient care area

  • You will maintain equipment and submit repair requests

  • You will operate the patient call system as well as answering and transferring phone calls and breaking down charts and forms

  • You will ensure the availability of instruments and equipment for the procedure prior to the start of the procedure

  • You will clean, disinfect and sterilize equipment and handle dirty linens

  • You will assist the medical staff with the management of scopes during procedures

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

  • One year of endoscopy experience and specific experience in the clinical services provided by the department

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent or proof of higher level of education required if hired after September 2010

Licenses and Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • CNA or MA certification - preferred
