POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist in supervising daily Aquatic Center operations to include
maintenance, programming, and personnel. Provides direct leadership,
instruction, and motivation for staff while on shift. Maintain safe swimming
conditions in the pool, on deck, and surrounding areas. Create a safe and
positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance
with policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs lifeguard duties to include but not limited to monitor activities in
and near the water through patron surveillance, prevent injuries by
minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations and behaviors, recognize and
respond quickly and effectively to all emergencies, administer first aid and
CPR including using an AED, enforce facility rules and regulations and
educate patrons.
Assists Aquatic Supervisor in developing, promoting, implementing,
supervising, and evaluating all aquatic programs.
Assists with scheduling of lifeguards and/or program instructors.
Provides supervision and customer service during program start, runtime,
and end.
Assists with organizing and leading staff in-services.
Assists with supervision of part-time aquatics staff.
Teaches swim lessons.
Works as a team with other lifeguards, facility staff, and management.
Tests the pool water chemistry.
Assists patrons by performing safety orientations, administering swim
tests, fitting lifejackets, and other duties.
Performs pool and mechanical room maintenance & cleaning.
Maintains records to include but not limited to shift reports, chemical
test, progress reports, and incident reports.
Performs opening duties, closing duties, and facility safety checks and
inspections.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS
Necessary:
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Must have current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED
certification or equivalent. If hired must bridge to American Red Cross.
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification (WSI) or ability
to obtain within 3 months of hire.
Desired:
Possession of or ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor
certification and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility
Operator (AFO) within 6 months of hire.
Previous experience teaching American Red Cross Watery Safety
programs/swimming lessons preferred.
