Controls Engineer
Job Description
Responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing, and/or maintaining equipment used to monitor and control machinery and processes. Ensure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely.
Responsibilities
Designing and developing new control systems
Testing, maintaining, and modifying existing systems
Providing technical guidance for Engineers, Technicians, and Operators
Working collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers, and other internal staff
Managing projects within cost and time-constrained environments
Troubleshooting and problem-solving
Recommending reliability improvements
Specifying and purchasing equipment
Assisting in the development and maintenance of Process Control Narratives
Developing and maintaining a 5-year rolling plan to upgrade and maintain process control equipment
Developing and programming process control logic in DCS, PLC, VFDs, and SCADA systems
Accepting responsibility and a level of accountability commensurate with the seniority of the position
Training engineers, maintenance personnel, and plant operators in the areas of process controls
Essential Skills
Experience with Emerson DeltaV, Programming knowledge is a must; networking knowledge can be taught
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent (Electrical, Electronic, Control or Automation Engineering is preferred)
5+ years of industrial experience in fast-paced environments
In-depth knowledge of process instrumentation and industrial control systems including PLC programming, DCS, Panel view HMI screens, SCADA Application programming
Strong experience with motor controls, HMIs, and VFDs
Ability to read P&IDs and electrical schematics
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Understanding of industrial communication protocols (EthernetIP, ModbusTCP/IP, HART, OPC) is a plus
Knowledge of Windows Hyper-V Virtual environment, Emerson Virtualization, Thin Clients is a plus
Experience with SAP
Work Environment
This position is located in a chemical plant within a production and R&D facility. The company boasts a stable work environment with little turnover and has not experienced layoffs. Employees are eligible for an 11% bonus potential based on personal and company performance, with the payout each year on March 15th. Additionally, relocation assistance is provided as a lump sum payment (taxable) on the first paycheck.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

This is a fully onsite position in Gonzales,TX.
