(View all jobs) Port Washington A Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair work on machinery, equipment, building and facilities which requires a broad knowledge of maintenance skills in pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems. The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Technician is to troubleshoot and repair equipment breakdowns effectively and efficiently for minimal impact to production. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the performance of necessary preventative maintenance and other miscellaneous maintenance needs as they arise within the facility. QUALIFICATIONS Five years of industrial maintenance experience combined with an associate or journeyman program ideal. Minimum of two years industrial maintenance experience with an apprenticeship program required. Candidates with no additional schooling beyond a high school diploma require a minimum of ten years' experience. Experience troubleshooting 240 volt and 480 volt electrical issues at the panel, plug and machine level ideal. Experience with CNC and PLC programmable controls and induction heating equipment preferred. A working knowledge of national electrical codes and arc flash protection. Basic mathematical skills and ability to perform precise measurements. Basic computer skills required to accurately gather and input data from computer systems. Capability to lift 50 lbs with regularity and up to 70 lbs occasionally. RESPONSIBILITIES Operate all equipment in a safe manner and uses safe work habits. Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production. Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties. Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment fully operational. Rebuild machinery or equipment and overhauls troublesome components and attachments including dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement of purchased parts. Perform skilled operations such as filing and aligning bearings, spindles, and shafts; adjusts feed and limit mechanisms, gibs, and ways. Perform various activities related to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment including their dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting and alignment. Perform preventative maintenance. Maintain required maintenance logs and files. Maintain a safe and clean working environment including complying with safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
