General Purpose of Position: To be responsible for the management of
projects for Mays Construction Specialties,
Inc. That responsibility includes the authority to make decisions on behalf of
the company concerning use of all
resources necessary to assure the highest quality of work while exceeding
customer expectations and maintaining
company profitability in the successful completion of each project.
Supervision Received: Occasional
Supervision Exercised: Daily, over foremen, crews, and sub-contractors
with major responsibilities of position and
MCSI projects.

Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated construction
project or projects to ensure that goals or
objectives of the project(s) are accomplished within prescribed time frame
and contractual and funding
parameters.
2. Reviews and understands project proposals, plans and specifications and
scope of work to determine time
frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing each project.
3. Establishes work plan and staffing requirements for each phase of project
and arranges for recruitment or
assignment of project personnel.
4. Confers with management and estimating staff to outline work, plans,
responsibilities, and scope of work.
5. Ensures that the quality and professional image of the company is
demonstrated through his own conduct and
communication with everyone.
General Job Duties:
1. Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel concerned with
construction of concrete repair,
stabilization and rehabilitation of buildings, streets, highways,
precast components, miscellaneous concrete
structures or other concrete construction projects, including grouting,
slab-jacking, geostabilization, foundation
underpinning, micropiles, and shotcrete. (All services provided by MCSI)
2. Studies specifications and plans to plan procedures for construction on
basis of starting and completion times
and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, based on knowledge
of available tools, equipment
and various building methods.
3. Assembles crew members and organizes (foreman, finishers, laborers,
etc.) throughout the project as required
to complete scope of work within specifications.
4. Confers with and directs project personnel to provide technical advice,
resolve problems, and coordinating
various stages of construction to provide a successful outcome.
5. Orders procurement of tools, equipment and materials and schedules
deliveries.
6. Oversees subcontractors and that contractual obligations are adhered.
7. Assures code requirements and safety requirements are met or exceeded.
8. Prepares change orders when required and follows progress to payment.
9. Assists and assures that supervisors and foremen are following the company
guidelines for documentation of
daily reports, extra daily work reports, and change orders.
10. May coordinate project activities with activities of government regulatory
or other governmental agencies.
11. Work to resolve all disputes between company personnel in a decisive yet
understanding manner that ensures
the project is not endangered and personnel are treated fairly with their
concerns.
12. Confers with H.R. department as to any employee changes, absentees,
tardiness, warnings or reprimands, and
discharges.
13. Ensure that a competent safety person is appointed for each job.
14. Monitor the safety program for each job and ensure that the MCSI safety
program is strictly adhered to.
15. Schedule all equipment needed on jobs based on availability and proper
timing in the progress of the job.
16. Meets with Foreman, Superintendent, General Contractor, and
subcontractors to ensure jobs remain on
schedule and that quality is maintained.
17. Inspect and confers with Forman o a regular basis to ensure that they are
progressing on time and at the level
of quality the company expects.
18. Completes any documents or ensures that all documentation required by the
company or customer is completed
by the individuals responsible by their due dates.
19. Review, and initial the foreman's daily reports, timecards, extra
daily work orders, and sub-contractors' daily
reports.
20. Review and approve all change orders and back charges.
21. Meet with the estimator and General Manager on a regular basis to
coordinate efforts and budgets on current
jobs and jobs under bid.
22. Interpret job specifications and resolve any concerns with the estimator
and General Manager.
23. Participate in estimating as available or if needed.
24. When possible, meet with inspectors while they are on the job sites.
25. Act as the liaison to the architects, engineers and inspectors on each
job and ensure that the company
relationships are maintained at a high level.
