Assistant Manager of Athletic Communications

Assistant Manager - Athletics Communications Location: Grand Rapids, MI. - W.A. Lettinga Campus Department: Athletics Pay: $39,000.00 per year The Role:

This position is responsible for assisting with communication needs for the athletic department. This position is also responsible for administrative duties within the athletic department. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion. Responsibilities:

• Assist with compiling, disseminating, and maintaining sports statistics for intercollegiate athletic teams.

• Assists in updating and maintaining content on the Athletic webpage.

• Assists in maintaining social platforms associated with the athletic department.

• Assist with the development of promotional material for athletic programs.

• Aides in administering information to the media and the public on the department and its athletic programs.

• This position will be directly responsible for all communications initiatives for assigned sports.

• Understand and abide by universal standards of confidentiality and ethical decision-making.

• Work cohesively with all athletic programs. Assist in administrative duties with all coaches.

• Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable national affiliations, conference, university and departmental rules and regulations within the athletic program

• Assist Athletic Department in athletic issues as needed.

• Abide by the rules and regulations of the league in which you will be competing.

• Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.

• Provides GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

• Strong service-oriented skills and the ability to have an exceptional customer service attitude.

• Must be able to work and relate well with the public, students, faculty and staff.

• Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.

• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

• Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.

• Ability to pass a pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to: standard criminal background check and employment reference checks. Select positions may be subject to drug/alcohol screening.

• Business office/Outdoor environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Ability to perform under stressful situations. Some travel between locations required (own transportation).

• No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 75 pounds.

• Must be able to work an irregular schedule, evenings or Saturday as needed, additional hours during peak times or as required.
