Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description
We are seeking a Controls Engineer for a 9-month contract-to-hire position with a material handling equipment supplier in Walker, MI. The ideal candidate must be proficient in writing code from scratch in Allen Bradley PLCs and have experience designing schematics in AutoCAD Electrical. The role involves working on both controls software and hardware for custom machine creation. Experience with Fanuc robotics is a significant plus.
Responsibilities
Write code from scratch in Allen Bradley PLCs.
Design electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
Create controls software and hardware for custom machines.
Collaborate with a team of controls engineers, an engineering manager, and the CEO.
Travel to various locations within the US, including Kentucky, Washington, Texas, Georgia, California, and Pennsylvania, with an estimated travel requirement of 25-30%.
Manage travel expenses with a company credit card and adhere to a $50 per diem rate for overnight stays.

Work Environment
The role is based in a typical machine shop environment with various projects. The office includes cubical spaces for designing and interfacing with other engineers. Work hours are flexible, with employees starting between 5-8 AM and finishing between 3-5 PM. The average workweek is around 48 hours, with 5-10 hours of overtime expected. There is no work-from-home availability for this role due to the nature of the work. The company offers a small company feel, flexible schedules, and opportunities to acquire new skills.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
